Prolen® polypropylene fibre has been produced in Slovakia since 1970 by Chemosvit Fibrochem s.r.o. Folkies socks can use Prolen®Siltex antibacterial fibre, which is treated with a permanent antibacterial treatment based on silver ions.

Folkies- Fan #2 socks are a Slovakian product and do not need to be treated with formaldehyde to travel long distances such as when shipped from Asia. Unlike other fibers and clothing made from them, Prolen® and clothing made from it are “skin friendly” and can be worn by people with the most sensitive skin.
Prolen® fibre does not react with chemicals produced by perspiration. When silver ions are applied, Prolen®Siltex is produced, which is also used to make Prolen®Socks. It counteracts the growth of bacteria, reduces unpleasant odours, maintains the biological balance of the skin and ensures hygienic freshness. The antibacterial effect of silver has been known since the time of ancient Rome. Prolen® fibre has a slightly negative charge which is beneficial for the human body.
