Prolen® polypropylene fibre has been produced in Slovakia since 1970 by Chemosvit Fibrochem s.r.o. The Karpathia socks use Prolen®Siltex antibacterial fibre, which is treated with a permanent antibacterial treatment based on silver ions.

Karpathia Socks – 2020 Glitter, is a product that we manufacture directly in Slovakia. Therefore, there is no need to treat it with formaldehyde to cover long distances, as is the case, for example, with deliveries from Asia. Unlike other fibres and clothing made from them, Prolen® and clothing made from it are “skin friendly” and can be worn by people with the most sensitive skin.
Prolen® fibre does not react with chemicals produced by perspiration. When silver ions are applied, Prolen®Siltex is produced, which is also used to make Prolen®Socks. It counteracts the growth of bacteria, reduces unpleasant odours, maintains the biological balance of the skin and ensures hygienic freshness. The antibacterial effect of silver has been known since the time of ancient Rome. Prolen® fibre has a slightly negative charge which is beneficial for the human body.
