are made from a unique Prolen® polypropylene fibre, which is characterised by its excellent thermal insulation properties. Prolen® fibre wicks moisture away the fastest of all fibres, to the next absorbent layer or surrounding area. At the same time, Prolen® fibre is the lightest of all fibres (up to 40% lighter than cotton fibre). Prolen® polypropylene fibre has been produced in Slovakia since 1970 by Chemosvit Fibrochem s.r.o. The antibacterial Prolen®Siltex fibre can be used in Folkies socks, which is treated with a permanent antibacterial treatment based on silver ions.
Prolen® and Prolen®Socks
Folkies- Berlin socks are a Slovak product and do not need to be treated with formaldehyde to travel long distances as is the case with, for example, shipments from Asia. Unlike other fibers and clothing made from them, Prolen® and clothing made from it are “skin friendly” and can be worn by people with the most sensitive skin.
Prolen® fibre does not react with chemicals produced by perspiration. When silver ions are applied, Prolen®Siltex is produced, which is also used to make Prolen®Socks. It counteracts the growth of bacteria, reduces unpleasant odours, maintains the biological balance of the skin and ensures hygienic freshness. The antibacterial effect of silver has been known since the time of ancient Rome. Prolen® fibre has a slightly negative charge which is beneficial for the human body. Negative ions help blood circulation, prevent free radicals, regulate autonomic nerves, activate cells and strengthen the immune system. Thanks to this, we can perform better.
