For their child, every parent wants only the best and healthiest. This is also why parents should pay attention to the quality of their children's clothes. Our skin is the largest organ of our body. If it absorbs toxic substances (dyes, pesticides /cotton/, formaldehyde), which are used, for example, in the transport of clothes from distant countries, they can enter the lymphatic system and the bloodstream. These toxic substances can cause infertility, respiratory problems, skin irritation and even cancer. Folkies® baby socks are made from a unique Prolen®Siltex fibre, permanently treated with silver ions

Prolen® socks and Prolen® socks

are a Slovak product and do not have to be treated with formaldehyde to travel long distances, as is the case, for example, with deliveries from Asia. Unlike other fibres and clothing made from them, Prolen® and clothing made from it is a "skin friend" and can be worn regularly by people with the most sensitive skin. Prolen® fibre does not react with chemicals produced by perspiration. When silver ions are applied, a Prolen®Siltex fibre is formed, which is also used to make Prolen®Socks. It counteracts the growth of bacteria, reduces unpleasant odours, maintains the skin's biological balance and ensures hygienic freshness. The antibacterial effect of silver has been known since the time of ancient Rome. Prolen® fibre has a slightly negative charge which is beneficial for the human body. Negative ions help blood circulation, prevent free radicals, regulate autonomic nerves, activate cells and strengthen the immune system. Thanks to this, we can perform better. Since Prolen® fibre is certified according to Oekotex Standard 100, it meets the strict human-ecological requirements for the production of infant garments. Prolen® fibre and Folkies children's socks were "born" and made under the most beautiful Slovak mountains, the High Tatras. We, the Tatra people, have a great relationship with nature and the environment. That's why we behave this way and produce our yarn and socks with the utmost respect for nature, in order to preserve it for future generations as we have inherited it. The production of Prolen® fibre and Folkies® socks does not pollute the environment (water, air or soil). Because Prolen® is dyed in the mass, it does not create a waste problem during dyeing. Only a tiny amount of water is used to produce Prolen®, unlike, for example, cotton, where up to 11,000 litres of water is used to produce and dye one kilogramme. Not to mention the pesticides and fertilisers used in cotton cultivation and the degraded land that once served as a livelihood for the indigenous people. Lower temperatures are used to produce Prolen® fibre and to care for the products afterwards (just wash at 30-40°C), which means less energy is wasted. Prolen® fibre is 100% recyclable.
