Socks Karpathia®IXO - The ticks are made of a special Slovak Prolen® IXO fibre, which reduces the retention (dwell time) of the common tick (Ixodes Ricinus L.) on the fabric. Composition: 75% cotton, 10% polypropylene Prolen®, 10% polypropylene Prolen® IXO (treated with repellent, reducing the possibility of infestation by ticks IXODES Ricinus L., based on natural substances), 5% elastane Recently, there has been an increase in the number of ticks in Europe due to warming. Ticks are carriers of encephalitis, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, babesiosis and other serious diseases that are very difficult to treat. So that you don't have to give up the experience of being outdoors, or if you do outdoor work, we have developed a special polypropylene fibre Prolen® IXO, which is used in the Karpathia®IXO - Ticks socks, which reduces the possibility of being infested by IXODES Ricinus L. - a tick, the most common tick found in Europe. This fibre contains natural substances that are non-irritating to humans, it is made on a natural base without pesticides and synthetic repellents. It was developed in Slovakia by Chemosvit Fibrochem, s.r.o. in cooperation with the Institute of Parasitology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of P.J. Šafárik University in Košice. The Prolen®IXO fibre is treated with a repellent based on natural substances, active ingredient: decanoic acid (decanoic acid, n-decanoic acid, capric acid). This substance reduces the retention (dwell time) of the common tick (Ixodes Ricinus L.) on the fabric and has been registered by the European Chemicals Agency for use as an active substance in repellents (product category 19) and pest control (product category 18) since 1.11.2015.

Certificates and test reports

The repellency test protocol 1/2019-FibroTick from the Centre of Applied Research of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice determined a reduction in the dwell time of adult female Ixodes ricinus ticks on the fabric compared to an equivalent fabric made of fibre without repellent substance.

Prolen® socks

The Prolen® fibre does not react with chemicals produced by perspiration. When silver ions are applied, Prolen®Siltex fibre is produced, which is also used for the production of Karpathia®IXO - Ticks socks. It counteracts the growth of bacteria, reduces unpleasant odours, maintains the biological balance of the skin and ensures hygienic freshness. The antibacterial effect of silver has been known since the time of ancient Rome. Prolen® fibre has a slightly negative charge which is beneficial for the human body. Negative ions help blood circulation, prevent free radicals, regulate autonomic nerves, activate cells and strengthen the immune system. Thanks to this, we can perform better. Since Prolen® fibre is certified according to Oekotex Standard 100, it meets the strict human-ecological requirements for the production of infant clothing. When you wear Prolen®, you know what you're wearing. Silver ions actively prevent the growth of bacteria, reducing unpleasant odours and maintaining the biological balance of the skin, ensuring a feeling of hygienic freshness. These Karpathia®IXO - Kliešte socks use Slovak Prolen®Siltex fibre with silver ions, which has been produced by Chemosvit Fibrochem since 1999. It is certified according to Standard 100 by Oekotex, class 1 (suitable for infant clothing). Prolen®Siltex fibre is permanently treated with an antibacterial (biocidal) additive based on silver ions, active ingredient: silver phosphate glass. Prolen®Siltex fibre prevents the growth of bacteria, reduces unpleasant odours and ensures hygienic freshness. The antibacterial properties of Prolen®Siltex fibre in Karpathia®IXO - Klieste socks are confirmed by the VÚTCH - CHEMITEX certificate. According to the AATCC 100:2019 standard (they have been tested for Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria). By test report from VÚTCH - CHEMITEX according to ASTM E2149-13a (tested for Escherichia coli).
