Fairy-tale autumn in Slovakia? We bring you some tips for a trip

Autumn brings with it, besides rainy and foggy weather, a beautiful palette of colours created by nature itself. Perhaps the most beautiful of the whole year, don't you think? Since meteorologists are promising quite pleasant daytime temperatures over the next few days, let's take a look together at where else you can go this year for a pleasant trip full of autumn atmosphere.

Crossing the Danube in Zálesí

In Zálesí, a small village near Bratislava, you will find a truly unique building that won the CEZAAR 2020 award for best architecture in the exterior category. Korzo is a multi-year project that aims to transform the neglected Danube riverfront into a vital village promenade. The former rubbish dump has been replaced by a recreation area with a small lookout tower, shelters suitable for picnics and a corso for a beautiful walk in the lap of nature. Perhaps the most famous part of this structure is its beautiful wooden pier. However, the autumn weather is always uncertain. So be sure to bring warmer clothes. But preferably thermal, so that it will keep you cool if it's warm, and warm you up nicely again if it's cold.

Šranecké sandy and floodplain forests in Záhorie

You definitely don't have to go to Africa, or even leave the borders of our picturesque Slovakia, to find sand dunes. Before you reach the "Slovak Sahara" itself, you have to pass through its integral part - beautiful floodplain forests. These are a feast for the eyes, especially during autumn. On the way from Bratislava towards Šranecký piesky, you can stop practically anywhere and wander in the multitude of colourful avenues. But don't forget about going for a trip to the sand as well. And what's worse than the sand itself? Wet sand! So you'd better choose days when it won't rain for several days in a row, and don't forget to bring appropriate footwear and special antibacterial socks.

The ubiquitous art of Banská Štiavnica

Banská Štiavnica hides not only the most romantic bank in Slovakia, a number of Baroque buildings, the Old and the New Castle, or attractive swimming in the <nbsp;taichs, but also the ubiquitous panoramic views of the art of nature. What better time to observe the spectacle that nature has in store for us if not autumn? Banská Štiavnica is, in short, love at first, second, even hundredth sight. After all, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason.

But be warned, this is a very attractive tourist destination. You should definitely remember to take the current must-have equipment in the form of a silver ion shower mask. And for even greater and more reliable protection, also antibacterial gloves, which will not only keep you warm but also provide thermal insulation in the event of cold or inclement weather.

Monte Mory v Mount Tatras

What kind of list would it be if we left out our most popular tourist destination - the High Tatras. Štrbské pleso is also home to our favourite Monte Mory lookout tower with a view not only of the High Tatras, but also of Spišský hrad or Malá and Veľká Fatra, so you will literally have Slovakia in the palm of your hand. You will also experience unrepeatable magic in the Bachledka on the Tree Crown Trail. Of course the autumn ones.

In these high-altitude locations, however, it is again necessary to think about adequate clothing, which will not let you down even in sub-zero temperatures. A thermal shirt, thermal socks, hardshell jackets and hiking boots are a must, but you should also think about appropriate accessories. In autumn, you definitely can't miss a beanie in the Tatras anymore. Since this hike is a good all-day hike, in addition to quality footwear, you should also bet on functional socks. Ideal antibacterial and thermoregulating to prevent sweating, unpleasant odors and moisture penetration that would cause cold discomfort and blisters.

East is a guarantee of quality

Are you one of the people who have not yet visited the metropolis of the East? If you had to choose an appropriate season to do so, it should definitely be autumn. Climb the North Tower of St. Elizabeth's Cathedral, go to the Botanical Gardens, and enjoy a straight dose of art at the Barracks or the Tabačka. And if you crave nature more than urban atmosphere, head to Spišský hrad, Bardejov or Levoča. If you don't want to take any risks and move around in crowded areas, visit Lake Izra below the village of Slanec. An endless path leads to the lake, dotted with a alley of edible chestnut trees and the castle tower dominates the horizon of this romantic lake.

TIP: To preserve your trip experiences for as long as possible, bring along a drone with camera for unforgettable bird's-eye shots.

Have you chosen one of our locations for your autumn trip? Or are you planning to venture out on your own? In either case, don't forget warm thermal clothing and safety features of clothing in the form of a muff or gloves.
